Almost all offices throughout the UK have workstations where desk tops, laptops or tablets of some sort are utilised, some involve a single screen or multiple screens. Under the Display Screen Equipment Regulations 1992 the employer is required to undertake detailed risk assessments for employees that are deemed as 'Users' or 'Operators' with respect to Display Screen Equipment (DSE). 

These can be known as Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Assessments or Workstation Assessments 

 

 

 

Display Screen Equipment (DSE) is a device or equipment that has an alphanumeric or graphic display screen, regardless of the display process involved; it includes both conventional display screens and those used in emerging technologies such as desk tops, laptops, tablets, touch-screens, hand held devices and other similar devices.
